Description

The Thiraviya Pattai is taken from the bark of the largest evergreen tree that grows up to 20-25 meters tall. It is usually seen on the river banks of the Indian subcontinent. The bark is grey and smooth.

The leaves are simple, coriaceous, sub-opposite, hard, oblong or elliptic, and 10-12 cm long. The top of the leaf looks green and brown at the bottom. The Flowers are yellowish-white and borne in panicled-spikes quickly. Due to the health benefits of Arjuna Bark, it is used in ayurvedic treatment.
