What happens when your parcel lands in the Netherlands
Every parcel entering the EU from outside is assessed for import VAT. Here is exactly what to expect, so there are no surprises at the door.
- Import VAT
Dutch import VAT applies to every parcel from outside the EU, whatever the value. The carrier assesses it and collects it, with a small clearance fee, before delivery.
- Customs duty
Charged only on orders above €150. Dried herbs carry low or zero duty rates.
- Declaration
Every parcel carries a full itemised customs declaration with botanical names. Business customers can put their EORI or VAT number in the order notes.
- Food checks
Dried herbs, spices and powders in sealed retail packs are admitted for personal use. Small personal quantities of honey are generally allowed; email us before ordering honey in quantity.
- Address
A street address and a phone number are required. Express carriers do not deliver to PO boxes.
- Returns
Damaged or incorrect items are replaced or refunded; see the returns policy.

How long does delivery to the Netherlands take?+
Five to ten days from dispatch with DHL Express or FedEx, to any address in the Netherlands. Orders are packed and handed to the carrier within a few working days of payment, and you receive the tracking number by email the moment it leaves.
Will I pay VAT or duty?+
Dutch import VAT is charged on every parcel from outside the EU, whatever the value, and customs duty only above €150. The carrier assesses it and collects it, with a clearance fee, before delivery. We do not collect it at checkout.

Prices are in US dollars. PayPal, Stripe and all major cards accept the payment and your bank converts it to euros at its standard rate; some cards offer EUR billing at checkout.

No. Free shipping applies to the USA, UK and Canada above US$99. For the Netherlands the exact carrier rate for your parcel’s weight is shown at checkout before you pay.
