Marapachi Bommai is a red sandalwood toy made from jack tree wood. It is placed in the Golu ceremony and is regarded as an avatar of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. It is a tradition that is generally followed in the South Indian states. During the Navaratri celebration, these wooden toys are offered to newlywed couples by their parents as their blessings.
