Different species. Kitchen turmeric (Curcuma longa) is for food and stains deeply; kasturi (Curcuma aromatica) is the cosmetic species โ fragrant, non-staining, never eaten.

Tradition says daily for a month before a wedding; realistically 2โ3 times a week shows within a few weeks.
