Description
Bilva tree is an ancient ayurvedic tree, it is a deciduous tree with trifoliate leaves. The branches of the trees sometimes have long straight spines. The bark of this tree is shallowly furrowed and corky.
In India Beal is an indigenous fruit tree. It grows semi-wild and wild places in North Indian states of Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. It is also considered a holy plant in the Hindu religion. The leaves of this tree are used as the sacred offering to Lord Siva.
The leaves, fruits, seeds, roots, and bark of this tree are used as ayurvedic medicines. The fair rich and well-drained soil and the warm humid climate with the sunny situation are ideal for the cultivation of this tree.
Put the seeds in moist soil and water regularly. Seeds would germinate within a month. The Bilva fruit is also called Golden apple, Bengal quince, Japanese bitter orange, Wood apple, stone apple.
Planting and Care
Light Requirement: This plant requires more than 6 hours of light per day for good growth.
Soil: The soil for planting should be well-drained and fertile. The rich and organic content of the soil is good for growing plants.
Watering: Check the moisture of the soil and apply the required amount of water in the morning and evening. Water the plant thoroughly in summer and reduce watering in the rainy and winter season. Don’t overwater the plant.
Fertilizer: Feed the plant with an organic fertilizer in the growing season. Apply the water immediately after the application of fertilizer.
