Bilva tree is an ancient ayurvedic tree, it is a deciduous tree with the trifoliate leaves. The branches of the trees sometimes have long straight spines. The bark of this tree is shallowly furrowed and corky.
In India Beal is an indigenous fruit tree. It grows semi-wild and wild places in North Indian states of Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. It is also considered a holy plant in the Hindu religion. The leaves of this tree are used as the sacred offering to Lord Siva.
The leaves, fruits, seeds, roots, and bark of this tree is used as the ayurvedic medicines. The fair rich and well-drained soil and the warm humid climate with the sunny situation is ideal for the cultivation of this tree.
Put the seeds in moist soil and water regularly. Seeds would germinate within a month. The Bilva fruit is also called as Golden apple, Bengal quince, Japanese bitter orange, Wood apple, atone apple.
