Baliospermum montanum is the botanical name of a red physic nut commonly known as wild castor, wild croton, and wild sultan seed. The red physic nut is a leafy undershrub belonging to the Euphorbiaceae family that grows up to 0.9 to 1.8 meters tall with herbaceous branches. Red physic nut plant is distributed in tropical and subtropical Himalayas in India and found in Bihar, Peninsular, West Bengal. The root of the red physic nut has numerous medicinal properties.
